The Alberta Friesian Horse Association (AFHA) is a chapter of the Friesian Horse Association of North America (FHANA) representing members in Alberta, northeastern B.C., Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nunavut, and Yukon. Members register their purebred Friesians in the studbook of KFPS, via FHANA.

The Friesian Horse Association of North America manages the KFPS judging and registration process for Friesian horse owners in Canada and the U.S. FHANA also provides extensive information about the breed for owners, breeders, FHANA members and the general public.

The "Het Friesch Paarden-Stamboek" attends to the studbook administration for the entire world, thus guarding the interests of the breed. At this time there are about 40,000 Friesian horses registered. The organisation also works closely with breeding associations operating under the auspices of FPS in other countries.
