Raven Oaks Friesians is our small breeding ranch with high standards that produces foals with exceptional bloodlines. The integrity of the FPS registry is important to us as it ensures the quality of the Friesian horse will endure and improve.
Raven Oaks Ranch (Friesians) has been our home since 1993. Wybo was born in Friesland and the family immigrated to Canada in 1958. Our home is on the edge of Riding Mountain National Park where we are employed by Parks Canada in resource conservation professions. Our horses don’t seem to mind sharing the pasture with the abundant wildlife in this area and are happy to head out and enjoy the trails in the Park. Our broodmares also train in dressage between foalings. We have two teenage children we love even more than our horses, Calvin and Libby.
We dreamt about owning our own Friesian horses for many years. After becoming more and more impressed with the breed with every visit to Friesland, we decided to sell our quarter horse and arabian and switch to Friesians in 2007. Wybo went to the annual auction at Joure to purchase two mares in foal. Since then our herd has grown.

Awen is a refined filly, awarded 2nd premium at the 2008 keuring in Olds, AB with full marks for conformation.
